Student Pharmacists Recieve Valuable Experience

Students from South College’s pharmacy program volunteered with Remote Area Medical (RAM) during a recent free clinic event in Knoxville, where they worked alongside health professionals to help serve underserved community members. At the clinic, which provided dental, vision, and medical services to hundreds of people, the students got hands-on experience beyond classroom learning — counseling patients, dispensing medications, and participating in real patient care. Faculty emphasized how this kind of experiential learning helps students grow not just their clinical skills but also their compassion and understanding of community health needs. The partnership gave students a deeper look at the challenges some patients face in accessing healthcare and highlighted the meaningful impact they could have as future pharmacists.

Election Information Released For Primaries

The Knox County Election Commission has released important information about the 2026 Knox County primary elections, including how and when to vote by absentee (mail) ballot. Eligible voters can request an absentee ballot starting February 4, 2026 — the earliest date allowed — and should do so well before the deadlines to ensure their ballot arrives in time to be counted.

Absentee ballots must be requested and returned by mail following Tennessee’s rules for absentee voting. Voters must meet eligibility criteria and complete a ballot request form, which can then be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the Knox County Election Commission. Once issued a ballot, voters should complete it carefully and mail it back — making sure it arrives by Election Day.

In addition to absentee ballot details, the article provides general election information for the 2026 primary, including dates and deadlines for voter registration, early voting, and other key parts of the election process as established by local officials.

On February 8, 2026, the Lady Vols traveled to Columbia, South Carolina to face the No. 3 Gamecocks in an SEC women’s college basketball matchup. South Carolina dominated the game from early on, shooting extremely efficiently and pulling away in the second quarter. The Gamecocks ultimately defeated Tennessee 93–50, marking the largest margin of defeat in Tennessee program history. South Carolina’s offense was led by Ta’Niya Latson and Joyce Edwards, who scored 21 and 20 points respectively, while the Lady Vols were paced by Talaysia Cooper with 17 points. The loss dropped Tennessee to 15–6 overall (7–2 SEC) and extended South Carolina’s winning streak over Tennessee to nine games.
